Culture programs at ALC combined Japanese language classes with a close focus on aspects of Japan’s culture, both traditional and modern. We currently provide more programs during the summer months, but are constantly developing and scheduling programs for all seasons.
We use small classes (maximum is 6, for some programs only 4), a flexible schedule, an innovative curriculum, and professional faculty. A key feature of these programs is that we do not restrict the program to our classrooms, but make use of local resources and field trips to maximize the experiential nature of these programs. For example the Ceramics Classes are taught by Master potters, and the Tsugaru Shamisen teachers are similarly professionals, not Japanese language teachers teaching their hobbies.
All of these programs are designed for adult learners, and the primary pedagogical emphasis is on teaching the oral communicative skills of listening, speaking and expression. Every one of these programs is available for short term enrollment of 3 months or less, so no student visa required.
